This week’s focus was on Thanksgiving, its importance, and the myths connected to it. Generally, on the thanksgiving, people get to meet their family and have food together. In 1637, the first formal reference of a "Thanksgiving" celebration comes after colonists murder an entire Pequot village and then celebrate their barbarous victory (Bugos, 2019). Years later, in 1789, President George Washington attempted to establish a Thanksgiving holiday, but it was intended to be a public day of "thanksgiving and prayer," not a day for "Indians and settlers" (Bugos, 2019).
